О MacBook Air Retina 13" (A1932)

The MacBook Air A1932 (2018–2019) introduced Apple's first Retina display to the Air lineup along with the Intel Core i5 Amber Lake processor and the T2 security chip. Unfortunately it shipped with the infamous butterfly keyboard — a mechanism notorious for failure from dust and debris. In Bali's sandy beach environment, butterfly keyboard failures are extremely common, and our team replaces dozens of these keyboards every month.

Что особенного в ремонте MacBook Air Retina 13" (A1932)

The A1932 presents a unique repair profile driven by two design decisions: the butterfly keyboard and the T2 chip. The butterfly keyboard requires full top case replacement (keyboard, battery, and trackpad ship as one unit from Apple), which inflates repair costs significantly compared to scissor-switch models. The T2 chip adds security that also complicates repairs — DFU mode is required for certain logic board procedures, and the chip's secure enclave means a board swap results in loss of Touch ID pairing. In Bali's environment, fine beach sand is the single biggest enemy of the butterfly mechanism. We advise A1932 owners to use keyboard covers and avoid beachside work sessions. For liquid damage, the faster you bring the machine in, the better — corrosion on a T2-era board progresses quickly in tropical humidity.

Вопросы и ответы

MacBook Air Retina 13" (A1932) — частые вопросы

My A1932 keyboard has stuck keys after a beach trip — can it be fixed?

Butterfly mechanism keys that are stuck usually cannot be individually repaired — the mechanism is too delicate. Apple designed the A1932 so the keyboard is part of the top case, meaning a full top case replacement is required. We carry top case assemblies in stock for quick turnaround.

What happens if the T2 chip on my A1932 is damaged?

If the T2 chip itself is damaged, the machine typically won't boot and data recovery becomes very difficult since the T2 handles SSD encryption. We attempt board-level T2 repair but must be transparent: severe T2 damage often means the data is unrecoverable. Back up your data regularly.

The screen on my A1932 flickers — is this a common issue?

Display flickering on the A1932 can be caused by a faulty display cable (prone to wearing at the hinge), GPU issues on the logic board, or the display panel itself. We diagnose the root cause before recommending a repair — it's often the cable, which is a cheaper fix than the full display.

How much does it cost to replace the battery on the MacBook Air A1932 in Bali?

Battery replacement on the A1932 starts from 1,500,000 IDR. Because the battery is part of the top case assembly on this model, it's a more involved repair than older Airs. We typically complete it within one working day at our Kerobokan service center.

Can I bring my A1932 in for a free diagnosis before deciding on repair?

Absolutely. We offer free diagnosis on all MacBook models. Bring it to Jl Raya Kerobokan 106, or send us a WhatsApp message with a description of the issue and we'll advise remotely. No fix, no charge policy applies to all repairs.
